Las redes encumbran y dilapidan a velocidad de crucero. Y el último en probar las mieles de Twitter ha sido el cónsul honorario para Etiopía en Escocia el profesor John Struthers. El diplomático compartió el pasado 26 de diciembre una imagen y un mensaje que roza los 20.000 retuits y los 60.000 favoritos. El motivo: en ella aparecen él y su esposa asistiendo a la fiesta en el jardín de la Reina de Edimburgo en el pasado julio. En la instantánea se ve cómo el profesor porta una falda escocesa y, a su lado, su mujer viste un vestido tradicional de Ghana. Encima de la fotografía, un mensaje sobre la lucha contra el racismo. “Pensé que que querría compartirlo… Nos miraron con desaprobación… ‘¿Es esa tu esposa?’ Y más comentarios que cuestionan nuestra relación de 40 años o más”, tuiteó, “el mejor camino de luchar contra el racismo es vivir tu vida, levantarse y educar”.

En seguida miles de tuiteros se lanzaron a apoyar y a vitorear el mensaje de Struthers. Otros, no sólo lo compartieron, sino que compartieron imágenes similares. “Respecto para los dos”, tuiteó Jay Smith, al tiempo que compartía una imagen de sus abuelos, él negro y ella blanca.
